Jack Wax: The perfect winter treat!
Yes, I know, it's March 15th why am I posting about winter and snow? Well its because most of us here at September & Co live in the Northeast and it's frozen tundra. In fact, we have TWO snow storms last week, it's weird and maybe a little cruel but we have all learned how to deal with our crazy spring and an occasional foot of snow in the middle of March.
If you follow September on Instagram, she posted stories of her and her family making Jack Wax and I knew I had to share it on the blog. Jack Wax only takes two ingredients, snow and maple syrup! It's a fun and tasty treat to make with your kids, you have to try it! Don't live in a snowy area? No worries you can make this with shaved ice too.
To make Jack Wax:
- 1/2 cup of Maple syrup (the real stuff)
- 9x13 baking pan
- Snow / shaved ice
- Candy thermometer
- Gather your snow and pile into baking dish. Leave it outside or in the freezer until ready.
- Boil maple syrup for about 20 minutes until candy thermometer reads 250 degrees.
- Once syrup is ready poor over snow and let cool.
- Dig in and enjoy! Should have a taffy like texture.
